Voc Rehab finally got Steve a decent interpreter. This last week they went on several job hunts, had a couple of interviews, and he landed a job making neon signs. I don’t know what that involves but it sounds interesting. He will be making more money than the Church paid him (big surprise) and he is happy about the job.
It has taken six years for him to land a full time steady job, and all it took was a good interpreter who understood the importance of her job, and an employer who could see past his deafness and recognize his intelligence and skills. I know that is probably an over-simplification but it’s the impression I have after witnessing his experiences these last six years.
